Actinic Keratoses (AKs) are precancerous growths. These tend to be scaly and are typically found on the face, scalp, ears, hands, and arms. Different methods can be used to treat AKs. While Dr. Hinckley does use liquid nitrogen to treat these spots, he prefers to use less painful methods whenever possible. One of these is called photodynamic therapy.
Dr. Hinckley also does treatment of precancerous lesions using photodynamic therapy (a technology which preferentially treats damaged skin) or chemical peels. Both of which are covered by all insurance plans and do not result in white marks on the skin like freezing can.
